Neue Galerie New York is a museum dedicated to early twentieth century German and Austrian art and design, housed in a historic Beaux-Arts mansion. This rebrand draws from the building’s architectural ornament rather than its institutional rigidity.
Inspired by the staircase’s sculptural iron railing, I developed a custom serif typeface that reflects its sharp terminals and flowing tension. Translating wrought iron into typography, the identity introduces a more experimental yet historically grounded visual language.
The system was applied to Egon Schiele: Living Landscapes, aligning the exhibition’s themes of tension, decay, and renewal with the new identity.
